I absolutely love working with local clients. My clients, the Amarnick’s, wanted to transform their office and family room while utilizing pieces they already had. Jennifer is such a fun soul that loves color and bold elements. We wanted to bring her design dreams to life – with full function for a busy (and crazy) family of five. Add in the two dogs, building a pool, and kids being home from school during quarantine – and we had ourselves a challenge. I have to say, I’m pretty giddy with the outcome. You can make substancial changes in a space with any budget. Here is my Amarnick Office + Family Room Project.

This space was more of a quick fix – or “spruce” as I like to call it. Jennifer + Brian wanted to utilize the desk, desk chair, accent chairs, artwork, rug, and console cabinet in the design – while also keeping the blue feature wall. I wanted to elevate the space and bring it all to life. The first thing I wanted to update was the lighting. I chose a cool modern brass light fixture centered over the desk. To add a bit of a traditional vibe, we added brass sconces on either side of the client artwork. We also incorporated new window panels in a white linen with black hardware applied 2 inches from the ceiling. This is a great way to give the look of tall ceilings. I really think this made the room look sophisticated + stately – but of course FUN!
One of the biggest changes in this space was opening the staircase wall and adding the iron and wood rialing. We also had the entire house painted in a perfect shade of light gray. For a little fun, we added a little room just for the pup – complete with wood flooring to match the feature wall in the family room. I love this space. It screams Jennifer + Brian.

Now, THIS was a transformation. Who would think you can make such a drastic change in a space utilizing the same sofas, chair and shelving. I had so much fun sourcing elements to complete the look. You should have seen me in Hobby Lobby laying out frames all across the floor and taking up the entire isle to make sure my vision would come to life. One thing the Amernick’s really wanted was a built in fireplace and wood feature wall. When I got involved, they had chosen their fireplace and were ready to transform the space. I had my contractor come out and build a narrow built-in for the fireplace and had it painted in a matte black. With the new gray paint, the wood feature wall and the fireplace… the room really started to take shape.
Being that they were building a brand new pool with blue tones, I wanted to bring the outdoors in. I incorporated different blue hues to really echo the pool and blend with the office space. We had two custom photo ledges built as a way to add style and family photos (that they are still filling lol). One of my favorite things to incorporate is a double rug. It’s a great way to add texture. I chose a nice ivory jute underneath and layered it with this blue herringbone rug that is incredible. I honestly love how the space turned out. From the white linen window panels to the ivory ottoman, and cognac leather poufs, it is such a cozy and livable family room. In a house full of boys, Jennifer really wanted a space she felt was homey and a bit girly – but with a masculine touch. I think we accomplished that. I am so blessed to work with clients and see the look on their faces when the project is completed.
