You know I love me a good before and after! Goodbye peachy-pink, helloooooo creamy perfect-ness.
I was hired by the Sansone family to help transform the exterior of their Binks Estates home. Being one of (if not the) biggest homes in Binks Estates, I had a big job on my hands. I really wanted to help bring this beautiful home back to life – in a bright, airy, and intentional way. My concept was to play off of the beautiful (and new) terra-cotta roof and create an oasis that is cohesive and timeless. I could not be happier with the outcome. My client tells me she receives compliments daily as people walk by. My work here is done (for now a least!), my heart is happy, and the home is one of the prettiest on the block. #ExteriorByMGH #ColorConceptMGH
EXTERIOR BEFORE :
Before I came along, the homeowners were thinking of choosing one of these colors for the project. While I love a good green (hello MGH), I’m so glad we went with a neutral palette due to the size of this gorgeous home.
THE DESIGN CONCEPT:
My concept on this project was to make the exterior of the home compliment the terra-cotta roof tiles and brown tones of the pavers. I wanted to make sure the entire home was cohesive and timeless. I also wanted a bit of drama. Whites and creams don’t have to be boring! To do this, I added a bit of a POP with bold garage doors, front doors, and black accents. Trust me when I say, picking the right colors for a home of this size and stature is NOT easy. We went through probably half a dozen white variations to choose the perfect one. Then, I chose an accenting creamy tone with just the right amount of contrast. I wanted the “coins” as they are called – to be a slight differentiation from the rest of the house, but not too much. I love how the two paint colors compliment each other so perfectly. Add new modern lighting, and VOILA!
RENDERINGS:
I went back and forth on this part for a white. Originally, I wanted the lighter color to be on the trim work (coins). The more I stepped away and drove by (over, and over and over LOL), I realized that I wanted the home to feel more refined. With that being said, I switched the colors and used the slightly creamier tone as the coins and the lighter color for the rest of the house. I LOVE how the brown accent color adds drama and contrast to the rest of the light + airy aspects.
